A lot of my users are frustrated that they get directed to the cart page and then have to click back or continue shopping to go back to the category they were looking at. Is there a way to add an item to the cart and not redirect the user to the cart page and display a message instead? I have looked at the extension points but it seems that they will always redirect. I have also tested using the existing links to add the item to the cart and those redirect as well. The only thing I can think of is to create my own WebAPI endpoint and add the item to the cart and display a message on a successful ajax call return. I am currently testing and developing on Hotcakes version 2.0.8

I ended up creAting my own endpoint to call on button click. I am testing with various users to see what they think of the flow.

From my experience, the current out-of-the-box implementation is by far the most common, but I can definitely see a SPA approach being beneficial to many stores. Those stores are primarily the type where customers are ordering multiple products in the same order (as the default activity for 80%+ of their customer base). I'd say the majority of online stores are more of a use case where a single product is purchased, and then you remarket to the customer to get repeat orders.

I've created an Issue to potentially get this added as a new feature in the future.

https://github.com/HotcakesCommerce/core/issues/53

Please note that it would require the following updates as prerequisites.

1 - The mini cart module will need to be a skin object.
2 - The mini cart will need to be rewritten to be a SPA app.
3 - The mini cart will need to include a listener to know instantly when a product is added to the cart.

Hello Everyone:

As you may have seen in the GitHub issue that was previously linked here, this has been assigned to the 03.03.00 release for some time now.

However, we've since run into a slight complication. There is a new pull request that includes an alternative SPA-based mini cart approach. Further complicating it is the fact that this minicart update is tied together in a single pull request with a PayPal Express update and some other updates. I've been trying to get the PR updated, but have been getting delayed by the person who submitted it.
