We are proud to announce that our world class ecommerce CMS product, Hotcakes Commerce, is being made available for the first time ever under a permissive open source software license. Hotcakes is a robust ecommerce solution that empowers you to spend more time growing your business, and less time managing your online store. Its innovative performance dashboards allow store owners to pinpoint information and make intelligent business decisions in real-time.

The decision to transition to an open source product model was based on a variety of factors that we believe will benefit the product as well as the broader ecosystem. The additional freedom offered by the open source license will allow the product to gain much wider adoption, which has the potential to encourage greater collaboration, foster innovation, and reveal new opportunities for the software that may not have been anticipated previously.

"I am a firm believer in the open source model," said Shaun Walker, Practice Area Partner at Arrow Digital and original creator of DotNetNuke. "I am excited to see the impact that a fully integrated open source ecommerce CMS solution can make on the digital enterprise."

In its previous release, Hotcakes Commerce literally reinvented ecommerce dashboards, offering unparalleled insights into store and product performance that allows you to boost your revenue and sell more effectively online. Hotcakes also offers superior content management capabilities and extensibility options, which ensure it will be able to satisfy any requirements that may arise in your business in the future.

Hotcakes believes that enterprise ecommerce should be easier. You are encouraged to download the product so that you can start "selling like hotcakes" today.

This is a great news!
I've immediately downloaded the install version but it is no installation packages for DNN.
There is any instruction to install it in a working DNN website or in a new installation?
Thanks.

Hotcakes is now a single complete solution, including content management and ecommerce. So the installation package contains all the files necessary to set up a completely new ecommerce website from scratch, rather than components to add to an existing CMS.

I'll leave the grander explanations to others, but part of the reason for this is to help establish Hotcakes in the non-developer community as a complete platform for eCommerce. A single installation package and procedure provides significant utility to non-developer communities and dramatically improves testing, validation and other quality assurance initiatives essential to the success of ecommerce.

All of the components in the installation package have been thoroughly integration tested to ensure the best possible ecommerce customer experience.

Yes I've seen, but the database is missing from the installation package!
If it is a single complete solution, including content management and ecommerce, there should also be the database ready to use with it!

Hi there.

Actually, there is a default MDF included for SQL Express installations. If you want to use full SQL server, the database will be created on-the-fly during the install. If you need some help getting installed, I would be glad to help you through it.
