I ended up creAting my own endpoint to call on button click. I am testing with various users to see what they think of the flow.

From my experience, the current out-of-the-box implementation is by far the most common, but I can definitely see a SPA approach being beneficial to many stores. Those stores are primarily the type where customers are ordering multiple products in the same order (as the default activity for 80%+ of their customer base). I'd say the majority of online stores are more of a use case where a single product is purchased, and then you remarket to the customer to get repeat orders.

Please note that it would require the following updates as prerequisites.

1 - The mini cart module will need to be a skin object.
2 - The mini cart will need to be rewritten to be a SPA app.
3 - The mini cart will need to include a listener to know instantly when a product is added to the cart.
