Sorting the results of a search is not generally a feature of any search algorithm. Filtering, though, is a whole different thing though. The search results can be filtered, as long as you have the search facets showing.

If you want to have more of an Amazon style experience, then you can re-purpose the drilldown version of the Category viewer, but it inherently requires a lot more initial and ongoing configuration to maintain.
