Actually, I was working on a plan for this several years ago when Hotcakes was still a commercial software. The day I was going to pitch it to the board, we saw Shopify offer this as a feature to their offering as decided to wait and see what they do next. They're doing a fairly good job, but the large number of use cases that a POS offering would need to support is quite large.

Therefore, to do this correctly, such a feature should be well-planned, be provider-based, and have multiple providers for various POS verticals.

In short, I'm not opposed to this, but it would likely need to be a sponsored feature. :)
