One you install the hotcakes CMS can you then upgrade the CMS or will that break hot cakes?

We have not tested Hotcakes on a CMS version higher than 8.0.3. Please feel free to try to upgrade it and let us know the results.

Hi,

I understand Hotcakes is now a complete CMS solution. However, we have an existing site that we would like to upgrade to the latest version of hotcakes. I noticed that if you build the "core" project from the github repo, a zip file "HotcakesCommerce_03.00.00_Install.zip" is created which appears to be the DNN module install file. I'm hoping this can be used to upgrade an existing site.

Our site is currently on Evoq 8.2.0 (DNN Platform 7.4.2). In order to upgrade to hotcakes 3.0 would we first need to update to Evoq 8.4.2 (DNN Platform 8.0.3), then install the HotcakesCommerce_03.00.00_Install.zip module to upgrade hotcakes? Please let me know if this should work, or if there is an alternate method of upgrading an existing site.

Thanks,
Rex

Rex,

Hotcakes V3 does not work with the Evoq Platform. I just went through this with another post in the community.

Here is a link to the post: https://mmmcommerce.com/F...s-v3-on-Evoq-Content

The key part of that thread is: https://hotcakescommerce....es-3-xx-from-CMS-CMS

At the end it says: "The Evoq edition of D N N CMS is not supported, only Platform."

So it looks like the only option that would be available is run Hotcakes as a separate instance. Or fork the code and attempt to make just a module install like it was in previous versions. I am not sure why the decision was made to basically fork D N N and make hotcakes a full CMS instead of using the CMS and keeping Hotcakes as a module.
