Product Manufacturing Tips for Your eCommerce Business

If you're reading this blog, then you have more than likely already decided to start selling online. Although Hotcakes Commerce provides you with everything you need when building your online store, finding a manufacturer to produce your product is another topic.

However, there is no need to worry because this blog should give you some insight on developing your own product.

Let's Dive In.

Before jumping into the wild world of product manufacturing, I recommend identifying what activities your business will be conducting. Without a firm understanding of your own business, many entrepreneurs will run into a brick wall because they're are trying to do too much. So, to simplify this process we have narrowed down the top supplier options that your business may use:

  • Manufacturer - If you're going to design your own custom products, then hiring a manufacturer is the best way to go.
  • Supplier - Although a supplier may also be a manufacturer/wholesaler/distributor, you'll be able to purchase already produced products and sell them to your own customers.
  • Drop-shipper - If you want to take the hassle out of your business, drop-shipping is the route to go. Your business will make the sales and your drop-shipper will send them to your customer's address.

After deciding how the products you're selling will be manufactured, the next step is to make the decision: domestic or overseas. Both options posses different pros and cons, but you're going to have to make a decision. I'd recommend doing your own research on this topic because nobody knows your business's needs as well as yourself.
