That compelling reason is going to be slightly different from store to store. However, if you already have a great product offering, the next step might be to play with various promotions. A great promotion can be the difference between stale product sales, and triple digit growth on that same product.
As part of our continued partnership with you to ensure that you always have the best performing store possible, we added a large number of promotional enhancements in this release.
Version 1.9.0: Promotions
Version 1.9.0 is very exciting for us for many reasons, including the one above. This release was one we've been wanting to do for a while, and one of our clients helped make it happen by sponsoring many of the enhancements you see in this release today. It's a great feeling to know that we're not only producing a great product for all of you, but we also inspire you to help us take it to the next level. As always, please test your upgrades on a development version of your site first. Be sure to back-up prior to upgrade, and merge any noted viewset changes as desired. We are not responsible for any Hotcakes that get spilled on the floor.

Enhancements
18396 - SI: Promotion for when vendor or manufacturer is/is not - Now you can offer price changes based upon whether products in the cart are or are not of one or more specified vendors/manufacturers.
18397 - SI: Promotion for when product type is/is not - Now you can offer price changes based upon whether products in the cart are or are not of one or more specified product types.
18398 - SI: Promotion for when product is not - You’ve already been able to change pricing when the cart contains a specific product. Now you can also apply price changes when products are NOT in the cart.
18399 - SI: Promotion to receive free products - If you want to create a buy one, get one (BOGO) free or otherwise give away one or more products based upon promotion qualifications, you can now do that.
18400 - SI: Promotion to discount another category conditionally - An entire category can be on sale, based upon meeting other promotional qualifications, instead of having to choose the category directly.
18395 - SI: New shipping method rules engine - You can now define rules to define when a shipping method is displayed to customers (or not).
18394 - SI: FedEx Negotiated Rates - Ensured that FedEx negotiated rates are being used by default, when they are present.

Viewset Changes
Viewset changes unfortunately happen with every release as we add new default features, fix bugs, address browser compatibility issues, and so on. As you might imagine, some of these updates are “nice to have” while others are very necessary updates for you too.
In the very least, you should always review the Cart, Checkout, CSS, and JavaScript updates when there are any. These are areas that can directly affect how well your store is performing.
