Five Ways to Drive eCommerce Revenue through Deals, Coupons and Discounts

eCommerce

With the Holiday season on our doorstep, online merchantsare faced with a big decision this season: How can I increase revenue andcustomer loyalty? However, there is no need to panic. It’s actually quitesimple and shouldn't take long for you to implement one of these ideas into your eCommerce store. Although there are a lot of promotional tactics that will increase revenue and enhance customer loyalty, today, I've identified five solutions that are easy to implement and highly effective.

So, let's dive in.

1. First Time Shopping Discount

Sometimes, providing a first time shopper with adiscount/deal is all you need to convert a potential customer into a loyalcustomer. Be creative and unique, but don’t put yourself in a position that makes your business appear desperate for customers. A common standard is to offer new customers a 10-20% discount on their first purchase.

2. Volume (Cart Size) Discount

This is a highly effective upselling tactic to encouragecustomers to spend more by offering an incentive, like free shipping, whentheir cart reaches a specific monetary value. Your business wins because you’reselling additional units and the customer wins because they’re getting anincentive.

Example: Skate Warehouse is an online skateboard store offering decks, trucks, wheels, bearings, videos, shoes, clothing and accessories. They utilize the Cart Size discount by offering Free Ground Shipping on purchases over $75.

3. Prelaunch Deals

If you’re still in the prelaunch stage of your business, using prelaunch offers assist in driving traffic and peaking interest. Typically, those who make purchase during your prelaunch tend to become the most loyalcustomers. If it’s successful, run with it. If it’s not successful, don’t sweat it. You didn’t lose anything except the 10 minutes it cost you to implement.

4. Holiday Deals

With the holiday season right around the corner, this shouldbe your bread and butter. Utilizing holiday/season deals, discounts, and coupons could be the small spark needed to drive your revenue through the roof this holiday season. Yes, there’s a lot ofchatter in the marketplace during the holidays, but that’s not to say your holidaycampaign won’t be successful.

5. Retargeting Offer

This type of offer is by far the most effective because they’reonly shown to people that have been on your site before, so you don’t have to worry about telling them who you are. Look at retargeting offers as your secondchance to convert the potential customer. What’s the worst that can happen?

Conclusion

Yeah, offers and discounts aren't right for every onlinebusiness, but that shouldn't stop you from experimenting. With a clear goal inmind and creative mindset, you can utilize deals, coupons, and discounts that lead to an increase in revenue and customer loyalty.
