    Hi All,

When I place an order with HCC Checkout module, a User is created using their Paypal Express Information rather than using the user information fields in the Checkout. Shouldn't the username / name be created using the Checkout Information fields?

Also once an account is created in the website, when you place another order using a different Paypal Express account those details will update the account in the website (first & last name)

Is there a way to stop paypal express from updating the user details in the website?
Is there also a way for the username to be created using the checkout field? not paypal

    *edit*
"Use Email Address as Username" is completly ignored by checkout (could be an issue with DNN 9.2.2)
When placing order with the same email address but different first & last names Via Paypal, The website will create a new user with the same email address.

Am using Sandbox mode with Paypal Express, am just guessing this wouldn't effect the above.

The checkout process does indeed ignore some of the customizations that may be made to DNN's registration process. It was never meant to duplicate it, but rather, integrate with the most common configurations (at the time). Please feel free to create an issue in GitHub to have that updated, if you'd like for it to be done in the future. :)

I don't recall that the PayPal Express information is being used for creating the user account. Are you able to duplicate that behavior on a cleanly installed instance of Hotcakes Commerce without any extension points being used?

    Hi Mate,

Have tested this checkout account creation on both Live and Localhost (localhost has no modules apart from HCC.)
    Module Version: 3.2.1
    DNN Version 9.2.2
Regardless if I choose Guest Checkout or New Account it will create a new user using the First & Last names of the account used in paypal.

So for example in HCC checkout, i'd select "New Account"
    First Name: Joe
    Last Name: Blog
    Username: gilderroot
    Password: password123

In paypal - using a sandbox Buyer account:
    1st Name: test
    Last name: Buyer

Once purchase is complete, user recieves thank you for signing up email:
    Username: tBuyer
Password: d884xj2 (this is a randomly generated password)

Will do some more testing to try provide more information.

    Hi,

Just encountered a major issue in my eyes.

If using the Paypal Express Gateway the "Bill To" and "Shipping Address" is pulled via PayPal.
The fields in checkout seem to be just for show, all information you enter will be replaced by paypal.

To replicate, setup a paypal express gateway (live)
In Hotcakes checkout enter different information to the paypal account you use.
Once payment has been made, check order and see which details are pulled.
You will see the details you entered in paypal, None of the information from the checkout is pulled.

Unless there is an option to change this, do let me know!

This is by-design. PayPal often will have completely different information entered during the checkout process, and if that information is not transferred back to the store, customer service staff could have a poor experience assisting customers in many cases.

If you wish to override this behavior, it's possible to do so using a custom workflow task to replace the default one included in Hotcakes.
