    Hi All,

Newbie question here most likely. I see that the install of Hotcakes comes with DNN 8.0.3 as a single (what seems to be) an integrated package.

So is there a very tied integration between Hotcakes and DNN8.0.3? Or can Hotcakes be added to a newer DNN version as a 3rd part module as we know it from DNN? I would be interested to add Hotcakes to a DNN 9 site.

    Thank you,
    Aderson

Since there are new changes on the horizon and a new playing field with Hotcakes 3X being both open-source and freeing up past 1x and 2x licenses, can we consider going back to calling and mentioning DNN by name as D N N instead of "CMS"

I'd love to be able to search the Hotcakes forums for issues of whether Hotcakes supports D N N 9 instead of just the number 9...

    Hello Ryan:

It's important that this forum focuses on Hotcakes Commerce only. The majority of people that currently use Hotcakes and that will use Hotcakes in the future are not familiar with the underlying CMS. This has been the case since the product originally launched. Any naming of the CMS has been very limited anywhere on our websites or marketing materials. As for what's supported, you can find that quite easily in the documentation.

Please see the last link in the Requirements section:

I agree with the focus direction... but to have the forum system auto replace D N N with "CMS" implies that it's a term that we should not use such as a foul language filter would replace. Originally, too, there was a political drive to why D N N was removed from references, documentation and conversations.

So while I can understand the focus for the non-developer users and wanting to make sure they have a 100% awesome experience, I would imagine it's time for a community-lead discussion on the point and perhaps the consideration of, at the least, not auto replacing/filtering D N N out of discussions. Especially if they end up being technical in nature... I'd think that D N N would seem appropriate to mention in those conversations.
