Is HCC 3 tied to a specific version of DNN and will that be updated moving forward so we will be able to keep up with the latest security updates in DNN?
Will any/all extensions work with your DNN version? How about skins/themes?
Thanks,
Bill

Hello Bill:
Hotcakes version 3.0 is a full-featured e-commerce CMS. It's a single package that as a unit will be maintained and distributed together moving forward as a single solution. There will no longer be a distinction between CMS and e-commerce, as they are the same solution. Hotcakes and the CMS are version 3.0 as of this writing.

There are some example themes that come pre-installed with Hotcakes. You can use them as a starting point to create your own. Also, you can still use any extensions that you previous used with the CMS in the past. They are fully compatible.

Bill, were you in the CMS game long ago to remember the Mambo/Joomla condition? We might head in that direction so that, for a time when they are still close to each other, modules, skins and solutions will work compatibly across the board on one or the other. Later, it might diverge further so that you have to consider whether a module or skin has been prepped/tested for one or the other.
But that makes me think about version and upgrades now to HC3 for existing instances where HC1 or HC2 is currently running.
Will, So that we'll be able to know what starting-point version of D N N we are applying an HC 3 update/install to, we will need to know the (currently at time of this post/file version) what version of D N N is part of the HC3 build. Knowing this diverging point will help us know that we should not try to apply HC3 now to a D N N instance which as been upgraded already to D N N version 8.4, but would be OK to do to a site which might still be at D N N v 8.0 for example.
So officially what is the last number of departure on the path over to HC3?
Is it any version below 8.0.3 because 8.0.3 is the current point of diversion?
