Thanks Will,

But that means that it's best to use hcc with the latest dnn version; ecommerce and security is MORE important than cms and security. So, what the best thing to do?
Yes, Kurt, I'm trying to understand your question too... I believe that you are saying that because an HCC site is eCommerce that it is more important to have high security than with just a standard D N N CMS site. Security is always important and from what you can see in recent activity, hot fixes, patches and updates from the CMS to the Module Vendors is very important to stay current with.

Having an eCommerce site means that you'll have a more attractive target for bots and hackers, so be sure to update to the newest stable version of items that you can upgrade and work to best secure everything else that you can.

I think Kurt's point was that our current "CMS" distribution is based on DNN 8.0.3 and Hotcakes does not yet officially support DNN 9. So if someone was concerned about the recent security vulnerabilities and wanted to upgrade their Hotcakes site to the latest DNN release version, they would be restricted from doing so. There are of course a number of patches, etc... so that you can deal with security vulnerabilities in older versions of DNN; however, these are not as straightforward as doing a full platform upgrade. The good news is that we are currently working on making Hotcakes compatible with DNN 9.

FYI, you can say DNN now. We didn't formally announce it, but it's been the case since before 3.0.1 launched. ;)
